Bokksu is a trailblazing D2C brand delivering artisanal Japanese snacks to customers in over 90 countries around the world. Featured in Buzzfeed, WSJ, Eater, and Mashable, Bokksu partners directly with centuries-old family snackmakers in Japan to live out our mission of bridging people together and sustaining culture through authentic food and media. Launched in May 2016, we are a fast-paced startup headquartered in New York City with a branch office in Tokyo.

At Bokksu, we're on a mission to bridge Japanese culture with the West. We partner directly with centuries-old snack and tea makers to deliver artisanal experiences to customers around the globe.

Bokksu is seeking an experienced Director or VP of Growth Marketing to join as one of the first 50 employees of our well-funded, successful business. This role will have a significant impact by driving awareness of the Bokksu brand, and acquisition and retention of new and existing customers. As the Director or VP of Growth Marketing at Bokksu, you'll be a key member of the Executive team with specific responsibility for everything from customer insight and messaging to media and the day-to-day management of the eCommerce experience.


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Continuously evolve the Brand strategy to make sure we stay current with macro trends and maintain relevance
  • Lead the creation of the overall Marketing strategy, in partnership with your direct reports, ensuring that we are driving brand and business growth through effective messaging and efficient media strategies
  • Lead the in-house marketing team to create consistent and relevant brand and product messaging across all consumer touchpoints
  • Drive customer acquisition, leveraging all channels, to continue to build a high-quality customer base
  • Drive customer retention through CRM/ life-cycle marketing, including but not limited to email, sms, etc.
  • Budget effectively across your channels, track spend and keep track of impact
  • Develop direct reports by setting a high bar, communicating clear expectations, and giving them frequent feedback and coaching

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years experience of developing and executing against marketing strategies across a range of channels and customer touchpoints
  • A passion for the customer and building brands
  • Experience working in consumer businesses that sell a physical product and or service
  • A strategic mindset, and are wired to operate
  • A bias for action, creating action plans based on data
  • Experience managing online and offline marketing channels, traditional (e.g. TV), and non-traditional (e.g. Influencer marketing)
  • Experience managing multi-functional in-house teams and external agencies
  • Excellent judgment and is able to act decisively in situations requiring quick but thorough analysis and decision-making
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to influence your peers and an organization, as well as to inspire and motivate a team to constantly outdo themselves
  • Strong communication skills, and able to prioritize and re-prioritize based on changing business needs
