Distributed Resources Operations Analyst / Engineer

The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) applies cutting-edge technology to operating a reliable electricity system, managing competitive markets for wholesale electricity, and planning for the Empire State's energy future. The NYISO’s Distributed Resources Operations team invites applications for a full-time Distributed Resources Operations Analyst / Engineer who is interested in demand response and distributed energy resources (DERs).

The NYISO is looking for a Distributed Resources Operations Analyst / Engineer who can multi-task, has good judgement, attention to detail, problem solving and communication skills, and can work in a team based environment. As Distributed Resources Operations Analyst / Engineer, you will develop expertise in the NYISO’s demand response programs. You will apply this expertise to support the NYISO’s activities to operate the NYISO’s demand response programs. In addition, you will act as the subject matter expert and work in concert with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement market rules for integrating DERs into New York’s wholesale electricity markets. As a Distributed Resources Operations Analyst / Engineer, you will also provide subject matter expertise in support of external stakeholder inquiries, as well as provide internal and external reporting. You will act as a department liaison for projects, meetings, work groups, and committees.

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Three years of relevant industry related or professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience with demand response / distributed energy resources desired.
• Knowledge of electric power systems and electricity markets desired.
• Experience with MATLAB, PI, Python, SAS, R, SQL, or other such software languages/programs helpful. Experience with VBA preferred. Advanced knowledge of Excel preferred.
