JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for working in a self-managing environment with the ability to perform diversified duties to maintain the highest degree of efficiency possible for the plant. Ensure safety is the first priority in all work he or she performs. Must support Huhtamaki’s philosophy and strategy for Continuous Improvement.
Must possess and use the knowledge and skills to perform a wide range of duties to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair simple and complex production and facility equipment. Must work with other maintenance and production personnel in making repairs and maintaining equipment. Must work with the team on improvement projects and constantly seek ways to reduce cost.
With a minimum of supervision must be able to perform mechanical installation, maintenance, and repairs of production machinery and equipment, requiring over 5 years experience and knowledge acquired through shop training in high school, technical school training, or on-the-job training experience.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
  • Must have the ability to use advanced trades mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, all varieties of precision measuring instruments, follow written instruction and possess basic computer skills using common programs such as windows operating system, spreadsheets, word processors or equivalent.
  • Must have the knowledge of and the ability to follow procedures established by Management such as, Safety, Personnel, Environmental, Cost, Quality, etc. within the department.
  • Must be able to use considerable judgment to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general methods are available, and the making of decisions involving considerable initiative and ingenuity.
  • Advanced skill that must be demonstrated: ability to terminate 480-volt motors and troubleshoot electrical problems with controls.
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently use a variety of hand tools and possess the ability to use precision instruments and equipment such as micrometer, dial indicator, bubble level, and multimeter.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
  • Physically capable of moderate to heavy physical efforts equivalent to frequently lifting or moving average to heavy weight parts or materials over 70% of the time.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention performing diversified operations or activities requiring constant alertness or activity.

  • To work and to encourage other team members to work safely at all times utilizing Job Safety Analysis and Standard Operating Procedures (JSA/SOP).
  • Meet the Company’s general requirements for attendance, productivity, quality, and team relationships.
  • Follow Company procedures and specific direction when notifying Management on Safety, Personnel, Environmental, Cost, Quality, Production, Maintenance and business related problems.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and make simple and complex repairs as needed.
  • Under the direction and guidance of the Department Manager use established work instructions to guide the teams’ work activity.
  • Seek advice from Management in any decision making process not well defined in our Plant Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist in the operation of the maintenance and manufacturing process, as needed, i.e., maintenance tasks and/or operation of C-Machines, Stock-Prep, facility maintenance, product handling equipment and wastewater.
  • Use of Computerized Maintenance Management System, CMMS, as well as email and Microsoft Office are necessary.
  • Must be available to work during holidays and plant shutdowns
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
In addition to possessing the ability to perform the above tasks, the Maintenance Facilitator’s duties include such activities as explaining and demonstrating work procedures and methods; apportioning and scheduling work assigned to them by the Department for accomplishment; observing and analyzing the methods used and results achieved; bringing problems to the Department Manager’s attention; working in accordance with the Company’s regulations and completing any forms connected with the work performed.
