Responsibilities:
Battery Breaking Opportunities
The automotive battery breaker is a state-of-the-art process for the disassembly of spent lead acid batteries (SLABS) into their material components. Skids of SLABS arrive at East Penn each day from our customers via truck transport. The battery breaking operations separates components back into metal, plastic and acid that is 100% recycled back into new battery production.
Battery Breaker/Floater
Feeds and monitors operation of automated battery breaking process. Major functions include:
Utilizing forklift to load/move pallets of batteries.
Prepares full pallets for processing by removing packaging material
Monitors operation of separation tanks, belt, screw and drag conveyors for proper operation
Monitors and cleans process filter presses as necessary
Refining and Casting Opportunities
The refining and casting operations receive lead bullion from the furnaces and refines it into variety of new lead alloys that are cast into ingots. The ingots are sent back to the on site battery production facilities for use in new battery production.
Refining Attendant:
Receives lead from furnaces and fills kettles with lead bullion
Calculates additive and reagent amounts necessary to add to the lead
Learns how to operate lead analysis equipment to determine lead quality
Removes dross from kettles as necessary prior to next refining process
Utilizes overhead cranes and forklifts frequently
Casting:
Controls flow of molten lead into molds.
Monitors temperature of lead and adjusts as necessary
Ensure ingots are marked correctly and clean of any flashings
Utilize forklift to move finished ingots into storage area
Qualifications:
Maintains regular attendance.
- Ability to work mandatory overtime.
Performs other duties as requested by Management.
Responsible for producing a high-quality product.
Responsible for proper hygiene, housekeeping, and safety practices.
Basic Reading Skills (must be able to read and interpret 1st piece inspection)
Basic Math Skills (adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplying)
Basic Computer Skills (ability to interact with computer screens)
Ability to communicate with co-workers
