Job Summary
The Editor I will be responsible for the review and approval of the dissertations of all doctoral candidates and all master’s students who are required to write a thesis.
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in English or Journalism; or equivalent combination of education & experience.

Preferred Education and Experience Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will possess the ability to identify corrections needed to comply with the Office of Graduate Education’s guidelines and provide ongoing communication with students through the completion of the dissertation/thesis approval process. Must be able to work independently and with a team and meet strict deadlines.
Other job duties include assisting with updating the formatting and submission guides, assisting with proposing submission deadline dates each semester, assisting with presenting formatting workshops, researching, planning, programming, advising, and instructing to support graduate students’ writing goals and to promote their proficiency in the style and genre conventions of academic writing and other duties as assigned. The Editor I will also provide one-to-one consultations to address graduate students’ individual writing concerns, develop and deliver original programming to address significant aspects of academic writing in group settings, collect attendance data, and develop assessment tools to evaluate programming.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.

Environmental Demands:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Remote Work Notice:
