Educational Development Manager

Smithbucklin, a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, with primary offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. is looking for an Educational Development Manager to join our Chicago office.

What You Will Do…

  • Manage communications with designated committees and special interest groups, including scheduling conference calls, working with chairs to form agendas, taking meeting minutes and reporting to the Board of Directors on pertinent action items
  • Serve as lead on areas of the education budget (forecasts, annual budget creation, reclassifications) and serve as L2 on the annual conference budget
  • Manage the client educational portfolio, including the oversight of the following educational initiatives:
    • All webinars
    • Annual convention abstracts and program development
    • Learning management system
    • Development of online modules and courses
    • Printed educational publications
    • Joint partnership initiatives
    • Content library maintenance and review
    • Certification review course
    • Educational Needs Assessment
  • Serve as staff liaison for education committees; as well any other education related task forces that arise
  • Work with Education Board liaison to lead development of educational strategic plan to fit into overall organizational strategic plan
  • Manage the Education Team
  • Continuously evaluate educational portfolio to ensure it aligns with strategic plan
  • Attend monthly board meetings to report on educational activities
  • Track sales of educational products
  • Reconcile monthly financials for Education program
  • Work closely with Accredited Provider Program Director toward ANCC accreditation and maintenance of that accreditation once it is granted
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Continuously monitor and amend education processes, adjusting for easier workflow

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably from a science or medical program, from an accredited 4-year college or university
  • Experience managing boards and/or committees in a professional setting
  • Experience building webinars
  • Experience with adult learning methods


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an association or nonprofit environment
  • Experience with monthly financial reporting
