Membership & DEI Sr. Coordinator

Smithbucklin, a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, with primary offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C. is looking for a Membership & Operations/DEI Sr Coordinator to join our Association Management Unit in our Chicago office. The Membership and Operations/DEI Sr Coordinator plays an integral role in supporting and guiding the nonprofit volunteers and members from our client organizations.


What You Will Do...

  • Develop and lead a sustainable process to continuously monitor, assess and adapt existing DEI organizational action plans
  • Coordinate and align staff and volunteers to enhance engagement in and accountability DEI activities and initiatives across the client organizations
  • Build and sustain strong client relations through attentive detail in handling volunteer interaction
  • Provide administrative and project support to the client and staff team
  • Serve as staff liaison to relevant client volunteer committees
  • Develop materials and deliver reports pertinent to your area of work for committee and board meetings
  • Identify needs and/or opportunities to leverage, when appropriate, diversity resources available across the broader landscape
  • Write and produce content for emails, e-newsletters, social media, and other electronic communications
  • Maintain and update areas of the association website with current information, resources, etc.

  • You wish to take ownership of important projects and build your skills across multiple aspects of nonprofit association management
  • You aspire to an eventual senior leadership role managing nonprofit associations
  • You have a demonstrated history of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and the ability to prioritize a heavy workload


Basic Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of relevant professional experience, including administrative support and project management experience
  • Interest in advancing DEI within an organization
  • Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • You have the ability to travel 10%


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a nonprofit and/or association environment
  • Experience working on DEI initiatives within an organization
  • Volunteer management experience is a plus
  • HTML experience and/or managing website content a plus
