JOB SUMMARY

UConn’s Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy is seeking an Educational Program Coordinator to assist with the administration of programs.

The IMRP is a dynamic non-partisan organization affiliated with UConn’s School of Public Policy, that works for fair, effective, and just public policy through applied research and community engagement. The Program Coordinator will support one or more IMRP projects and activities. IMRP’s current largest programs/projects include the Racial Profiling Prohibition Project, Connecticut Sentencing Commission, Children with Incarcerated Parents Initiative, and the International Justice Exchange Project.

Under the direction of a Program Manager or Director, the Program Coordinator will coordinate the day-to-day administrative activities of the program/s.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Coordinator will work under limited supervision of a Program Manager or Director, and the Institute’s Director. Under the direction of the Program Manager or Director, may coordinate the work assignments of part-time staff and students and supervise their performance on tasks.

  • Coordinates general office operations and processes and maintains necessary paperwork, records, and files required to support the program.
  • Responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and others affiliated with the University, as well as from community members, state and municipal government leaders, and others external to the University, regarding program policies, procedures, and requirements, making referrals as appropriate.
  • Compiles data and prepares reports to support program activities and publicize program achievements.
  • Assists in advising students or partners regarding program activities. Explains program policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Coordinates administrative and technical support as well as program logistics for program faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Assists in the planning, coordination, and execution of program activities, research, training, conference presentations, and events.
  • Represents the program at the designation, or in the absence of, the Program Manager or Director.
  • Reviews, copies, edits, and/or develops research, informational, and promotional materials.
  • May assist in establishing budgets and monitoring financial activity for an assigned area.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Three to four years of related professional experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • At least two years of experience with funded research projects.
  • Experience working in a university setting.
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships with numerous community partners.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is a full-time, 12-month, end-dated position, with the possibility of renewal dependent upon the availability of funding and the candidate’s performance. Other rights, terms, and conditions of employment are contained in the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Professional Employees Association (UCPEA).
