Veterinary Assistant - Surgery

Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group (VERG) is looking for a Veterinary Surgical Assistant to join our team. The Surgical Assistant plays a crucial role by providing support to the surgery team by preparing operating rooms and suites, ensuring proper care and handling of surgical equipment, and maintaining a safe and sterile surgical environment. • Prepare, setup and breakdown the operating room including arranging surgical instrumentation
• Prepping patient tables
• Cleaning and sterilizing surgical equipment
• Preparing surgical packs
• Cleaning of the operating room
• Stocking of the operating room
• Assist the veterinary surgical team as needed

• A love for animals and a passion for the veterinary field
• experience working in a surgical environment, veterinary industry preferred
• knowledge of sterile techniques preferred
• experience with steam and gas sterilization processes preferred
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• A compassionate, attentive, positive and respectful attitude
• A collaborative spirit- a willingness to support the team, be flexible and dependable
• A strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• An ability to manage time and priorities with minimal direct supervision
• A willingness to work non-traditional hours such as weekends, evenings, and a share of holidays
