ENGINEER - RESEARCH ENGINEER - SPACECRAFT

Who We Are:

The Space Systems Division is a multidisciplinary team of engineers, program managers, and technicians to develop spaceflight missions, spacecraft, spacecraft avionics systems, spacecraft payloads, and lighter than air systems.

Objectives of this Role:
  • This position is for a Spacecraft/Space hardware Electrical Test Engineer.
  • Support the Spacecraft Department's Integration and Test team and will perform Space hardware/ Spacecraft integration and testing.
  • Develop and conduct integration and test procedures for spacecraft hardware and software to verify complex and multifunctional systems requirements from low-level development through pre-launch verification on a variety of NASA, Commercial and DOD space missions.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Integration leads, and Project Managers to develop and execute verification and validation plans.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Develop verification and validation plans, test procedures, work flow and work instructions.
  • Generate test scripts to automate complex test scenarios.
  • Work in a lab/cleanroom facility with hardware, ground support equipment and test equipment.
  • Functionally test electronic assemblies to full-up spacecraft systems and software per written test plans and procedures.
  • Develop troubleshooting procedures in case of anomalies.
  • Analyze test results, generate test reports, and present test analyses with accuracy, quality and integrity.
  • Meet regularly with the team, assessing status, reviewing problems, planning short-term and long-term activities.
  • Support Program Managers and I&T leads with test planning to optimize resources in a fast paced environment.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors or a Masters in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Occasional night or weekend shift work may be required to support environmental test campaigns
  • 1-3 years: Directly related experience in electrical assembly test and validation, preferably with Space hardware and exposure to telemetry processing software such as STOL scripting language
  • Experience using standard electrical test equipment, including but not limited to digital multi-meter, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power meter
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics to support troubleshooting
  • Strong computer skills including working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Matlab, and higher level programming languages such as C
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required
