We are looking for a Machine Learning Manager, Ads Ranking to join Snap Inc!
The core machine learning team for Snapchat ads is looking for a hands-on engineering manager to lead and grow a team of exceptional machine learning researchers and engineers. You will be responsible for driving significant impacts for a large business vertical through algorithmic innovation and optimization in our ad ranking stack.

The core modeling team is responsible for machine learning models and algorithms that predict the engagement of Snapchat users with sponsored ads. We directly impact the value advertisers get from the Snapchat ad-auction platform by matching each user with relevant ads. We are one of the primary driving forces behind innovations in machine learning algorithms and software at Snap Inc.

What you’ll do:
  • Develop vision and execution plan for machine learning powering a large portion of Snap ads business vertical.
  • Influence key decisions on product strategy, engineering architecture and scalable, reliable, cost-effective engineering implementation. Work with product and various partner engineering teams to drive end-to-end improvements.
  • Lead and grow a team of exceptional machine learning researchers and engineers while maintaining our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Set examples of well-conceived and well-executed long-term machine learning bets. Drive significant impact through first-of-a-kind ideas.
  • Build machine learning external brand for Snap through periodic technical blogs and publications in top-tier machine learning conferences.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, model training, evaluation, and benchmarking.
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow or PyTorch.
  • Background in solving open ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others.
  • Possesses a desire to learn and help others

Minimum qualifications:
  • BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of experience with applied machine learning engineering
  • 2+ years of experience leading a medium to large-size machine learning team

Preferred qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent field
  • Direct experience in building and applying large-scale machine learning solutions for online ads recommendation or search ranking or feed ranking
  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Relevant publications in top tier machine learning conferences.
Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.
  • Zone A (CA, WA)
    : The base salary range for this position is $230,000 - 335,000 annually
  • Zone B
    : The base salary range for this position is $219,000 - 318,000 annually
  • Zone C
    : The base salary range for this position is $196,000 - $28,000 annually
  • This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs

To reflect this, we practice a “default together” approach and expect our team members to work in an office at least 80% of the time (an average of 4 days per week). Remote team members still are expected to travel for mandatory in-person gatherings and to fulfill business needs, at least 4 to 6 times per year.
