This position is for an Entry Level Pipefitter.
Pipefitters are responsible for fitting pipe consisting of various materials such as steel, galvanized, cooper, cooper-nickel and stainless along with the appropriate valves and fittings, utilizing various tools and equipment in accordance with drawings, arrangements and blue prints. Pipefitting requires the use of metric and standard measuring devices, basic math and reading in their daily tasking. Skill and safety training will be provided to all candidates.
Pipefitters will be required to work either day or night (various shifts) dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Shipyard production areas involve working at different heights, confined spaces, all weather conditions. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations.
Entry level position. No experience needed.
