Job Summary
Risk Management and Safety at Auburn University is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Protection Technician to join our stormwater/MS4! The successful candidate will work alongside professionals in both Auburn University’s Environmental Health and Safety Department and the Ft. Moore Department of Public Works to assist with Ft. Moore’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of environmental health and safety while working with a dynamic team.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct field surveys to assess the condition of stormwater infrastructure.
  • Utilize GIS software to map and analyze data.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of MS4 compliance strategies.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Participate in team meetings and project discussions.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Level II- High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, clean air, or storage tank management.

Level III- High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, clean air, or storage tank management.

Level IV- High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of experience in managing environmental compliance programs such as hazardous waste, clean water, clean air, or storage tank management.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
Degrees accepted in lieu of experience for advanced levels, at a rate of one year of relevant education per year of required experience

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, Geography or related field (or currently enrolled in one of these programs).
  • Experience with surveying equipment and GIS software is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance is a plus.
