We are hiring two (2) full-time, permanent Manager, Planning and Architecture positions working out of Edmonton, AB.

The Manager, Planning and Architecture reports to the Senior Manager, Planning and Architecture, and will be responsible for planning and architecting business and technology solutions primarily for our EPCOR USA (EUSA) Regulated and Corporate Business Units (BUs), Water and Electricity Business Units (BUs), as well as other business units. As a Manager, Planning and Architecture, you will be also responsible for driving the solution architecture of a few, selected projects across business units.
What you’d be responsible for
- Driving business architecture plans and directions, ensuring that each business unit’s operating plans, as well as application services, architecture strategy and emerging technologies serve as a key driver to effectively accomplish strategic objectives in a cost-effective manner.
- Sourcing and gathering relevant information for current and future requirements surrounding EPCOR’s governance structure, business processes and business information management
- Ensuring current architecture standards are adhered to and refined as necessary, including providing solution architecture guidance to selected projects.
- Providing leadership to a high-performing team, set appropriate performance objectives for each employee and hold employees accountable for achieving results and demonstrating required behaviors.
- Researching and adopting emerging and existing technology trends or practices that directly aligns fit within EPCOR’s environment, the business partners and overall business units’ long-term strategic goals
- Assessing technological opportunities and threats that exist in EPCOR’s competitive market and develop and implement relevant plans to improve the function's operational effectiveness.
- Acting as a key contributor by providing estimates or inputs that help BU’s complete their annual budgeting cycle, business system plan and regulatory filing
- Developing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with key business stakeholders within respective areas to ensure delivery or appropriate business results.
What’s required to be successful
- Completed post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Engineering/System Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related fields.
- 8+ years of related experience with business architecture and IT project management processes.
- A good understanding of the Systems Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) including custom-build and commercial off the shelf (COTS) or SaaS software implementation frameworks.
- Familiar with new and emerging technology trends and adept in conducting business research that fit within EPCOR’s environment.
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills in advising and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills bridging between business and technology.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, present, and recommend efficient technical solutions to business opportunities and challenges.
- A satisfactory understanding of regulatory frameworks and assist with the completion of each business units’ filing.
