Work entails installing, configuring, and supporting peripheral hardware and network hardware including servers, switches, desktop computers, laptops, printers/copiers, and structured cabling. The Technology Support Analyst is responsible for administering domains, network user accounts, workstations, workgroups, and network security. Responsibilities also include managing on premise databases and utilizing data to create reports. Work is performed under the supervision of the Information Technology Manager.Examples of Work:• Assists with management of local SQL databases, creating Power BI dashboards and implementing SharePoint team sites.• Configures, creates, manages and secures servers; monitors integrity of users’ data; create/manage department folders, calendars, aliases and email groups; troubleshoot delivery/receipt of email messages; maintain spam and ATP rules.• Monitors and manages servers in virtual center, maintain proper configurations, security controls and authorizations and backup; create virtual servers as requested; monitor system resources to ensure virtual machines run at optimum performance; adjust or recommend changes.• Manages remote access; backup system, create and manage network, application and portal access for user access; troubleshoot user issues.• Reviews, plans, and evaluates systems/servers, recommends improvements, prepares project plans, provides documentation/reporting.• Documents network designs and configurations.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Thorough knowledge of computer, networking, and telecommunications technologies.• Must possess problem-solving and basic technical support skills.• Ability to evaluate, recommend and install PCs, servers, operating systems, network software, application software, workstations, and communications hardware.• Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment.• Ability to work independently or as a team member to identify requirements, find and evaluate alternatives, present solutions, make recommendations and follow projects through to completion.• Ability to take initiative and use creative and innovative thinking to find solutions to business problems.• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Requirements:• Requires an associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field and four years of experience in a technical environment.• Must have experience with configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of virtual and cloud environments.Preferred:• Preferred experience with Microsoft SQL Server• Preferred experience with PowerBI and SSRS.• Preferred experience with Microsoft Power Automation and SharePoint Administration.• Preferred experience with FTPs and SFTPsDurham County Government is an Equal Opportunity Employer
