Registered Architect

ERG is a research and consulting firm that provides a wide range of support to federal, state, and commercial clients. ERG is seeking a Registered Architect with experience with facilities projects, such as interior or exterior building renovations, building repairs (e.g., roof or HVAC replacement), and modifications or repairs to utilities and infrastructure. The Architect will be the Designer of Record and will stamp and seal all final deliverables to the Client.

This is a hybrid position based in Arlington, VA, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, as well as from ERG’s Merrifield offices.  


Overview


This individual is a Registered Architect who oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of architectural design services to multiple projects simultaneously, including the production of construction documents and specifications, ensuring that they are completed on time, within the approved manhour budget, meeting the highest quality standards, and exceeding client and stakeholder expectations. The Architect will serve as Discipline Lead on some projects and also serve as Project Manager on selected assignments.

The ideal candidate will be registered as an architect in at least one state with at least ten years of experience managing complex projects while overseeing multidisciplinary teams. They must be able to secure and maintain a SECRET level clearance with the Federal government. The successful candidate will join our growing team of professionals who focus on quality work and foster collaborative, long-term relationships with our clients and within our team. 


Job Responsibilities:
  • Project Delivery: Lead the Architecture and Interior Design discipline team under the direction of the Project Manager (PM). The Architect will oversee the development of all discipline deliverables (e.g., drawings, specifications, design narratives, calculations, etc.) and ensure that project deliverables meet expectations for quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Business Development: Assist with the preparation of proposals and development of fees.
  • Mentorship & Training: Provide leadership and training to junior staff members, guiding their professional development and fostering a supportive studio culture.
  • Recruiting. Actively participate in company efforts to retain high-quality personnel.


Qualifications and Skills:
  • Registered architect in at least one state
  • At least ten years of relevant experience
  • At least five years of experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate/communicate effectively with internal/external stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with design-bid-build construction projects
  • Experience with vertical new construction, building renovation, and civil/site infrastructure construction projects
  • Experience with construction building codes and permitting processes
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance


$140,000 - $150,000 a year

ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time) and more. The salary range for all positions depends on the years and type of experience.
