Stormwater Inspector

ERG is looking for a talented, motivated stormwater inspector to join our growing water compliance and enforcement practice. You will have the opportunity to work with US EPA, States, and other agencies to address today’s most pressing water quality, resource, and infrastructure challenges.



Job Description:
  • Performing technical field evaluations of MS4, industrial, or construction programs or sites across the country to assess compliance and effectiveness of BMPs and their operation and maintenance, management and program/plan implementation, required reporting, and compliance with permit provisions
  • Developing detailed technical reports to convey inspection and investigation findings  •Serving as the technical expert to our clients in providing all information necessary to make informed and defensible compliance determinations
  • Facilitating communication between regulated entities and regulators
  • Working to reduce the impacts of traditional pollutants and emerging contaminants on human health and the environment
  • Exploring new opportunities related to water quality


Qualifications and Skills:
  • A science degree (e.g., environmental science, biology, chemistry, geology, agronomy) or an engineering degree
  • Familiarity with Clean Water Act and stormwater regulations and regulatory programs and implementation
  • Understanding of municipal, industrial, or construction stormwater collection, conveyance, and treatment operations
  • 5-10 years of experience implementing or supporting stormwater pollution control ory agencies or contracting/consulting
  • Previous experience conducting environmental inspections is a plus
  • A willingness to travel 25% or more within the U.S. and U.S. territories to assess compliance and program effectiveness at regulated and permitted entities
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Proficiency in conducting desktop research
  • Ability to work alone as well as within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office-based programs

$50,000 - $85,000 a year

ERG offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, educational benefits, FSAs, a generous 401k plan, profit sharing, an EAP, 11-20 paid vacation days per year, 10 paid holidays per year, 56 hours or more of sick leave (based on the state you work in) per year (pro-rated for part-time) and more. The salary range for all positions depends on the years and type of experience.
