About the Role:


We are looking to hire a Tech Lead/Manager Product Engineer who bridges technical expertise, leadership, and product management to ensure successful product development. Reporting to the CoFounder and CTO, this person will work at our Palo Alto office alongside a growing team of engineers, product managers, and designers. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical depth with leadership and product focus, and be responsible for both strategic oversight and tactical execution.


Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Guide the engineering team in designing, architecting, and implementing high-quality software solutions. Make key technical decisions, enforce best practices, and ensure scalability and maintainability.
  • Team Management: Mentor and manage engineers, set goals, provide feedback, and foster a collaborative team culture. Handle task prioritization, resource allocation, and performance reviews.
  • Product Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define product requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and align development with business goals.
  • Project Oversight: Plan and track project timelines, manage risks, and ensure on-time delivery of features. Coordinate cross-functional efforts and resolve blockers.
  • Hands-On Coding: Depending on the role, contribute to coding, code reviews, and debugging, especially for critical components, though this varies by seniority and team size.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, explaining complex concepts in accessible terms and advocating for engineering needs.
  • Innovation and Strategy: Drive technical strategy, evaluate new tools/technologies, and propose improvements to processes or products.


Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, 5+ years leading teams or projects.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, AWS, system design, and Agile methodologies.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to mentor engineers and manage cross-functional projects.
  • Product Sense: Experience collaborating with product managers to define and deliver user-facing features.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management.
  • Bonus: Industry-specific knowledge in Legal Tech, cloud certifications, and/or startup experience.
