This position manages supervisory functions where the work covers core financial risks in capital and asset-liability management for a large, globally systemic financial institution under Federal Reserve supervisory authority. You will be part of a leadership team on a dedicated supervisory team (DST) that supports department, Reserve Bank and System objectives. Through your technical expertise and ability to influence others, you will determine an appropriate supervisory strategy to promote safe and sound practices in the management of complex financial risks in capital and asset-liability management. You will utilize strong communication skills and technical knowledge to maintain ongoing and effective relationships with senior management of the supervised institution.
As a manager, you will provide direct supervision to a team of examiners and handle all aspects of staffing including hiring, employee development, coaching, and feedback/performance management. As requested, you will provide technical support to senior Reserve Bank management in the formulation of policy development and implementation.
Principal Accountabilities:

Support the DST Lead and DST Deputy Leads in developing and implementing an appropriate supervisory strategy to cover financial risk practices in capital planning, stress testing and asset/liability management, along with supporting the supervision of broader capital markets areas, including liquidity risk.

Maintain liaisons with Reserve Bank and System program, with DST Leads/Deputies, System risk specialists, and other regulatory agencies.

Develop effective relationships with senior management at the supervised institution and, as necessary, conduct sensitive meetings with senior management.

Provide direct reports with technical coaching and skill development. Ensure your team’s work products contain relevant and well supported risk analysis, and supervisory findings and concerns are effectively conveyed to senior bank management.

Participate in risk-focused reviews, preparing informative, well-supported supervisory products and work papers, effectively communicating supervisory conclusions and required actions on complex topics to senior management and boards of directors.

Serve as a knowledge leader by leading or supporting direct reports on high-level projects, workgroups, and strategic projects. Promote and support the understanding of emerging risks, risk management practices and changes in supervision policies, procedures, tools or guidance on a System basis.

Foster a diverse set of perspectives to ensure varied viewpoints are considered when drawing supervisory conclusions.

Qualifications:

Master's degree or equivalent.

12 years of work experience that shows applicable technical knowledge or managerial skills.
Desirable Knowledge and Skills:
-
In one or more of the following areas, advanced knowledge and experience in asset liability management, fixed income and rate risk methodologies, credit markets, and funding and liquidity management as executed by a large complex banking organization.

Capabilities to evaluate a broad range of an institutions’ practices in capital markets risk dimensions and businesses, including liquidity, market and counterparty credit risk management and capital planning.

Professional development programs, and training and conferences in capital markets.

Prior experience in managing people and bank supervision would be an asset to the role.
