Join the Exploratorium as an On-Call Events Explainer, where you will engage with visitors, assist in exhibits, and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience during rental events.
Responsibilities: Greeting guests, facilitating interactions with exhibits, conducting demonstrations, monitoring safety, and assisting with event setup and breakdown.
Skills: Experience as a High School Explainer or Visitor Engagement Facilitator; strong communication skills; ability to work with diverse audiences; problem-solving abilities; physical stamina for moving exhibits and standing for long periods.
Qualifications: Prior experience as an Explainer at the Exploratorium is required; must be outgoing and able to work late nights and weekends.
Location: This position is located in San Francisco, CA, and is on-call with no set schedule.
Compensation: $22 - $22 / Hourly

SUMMARY
The Exploratorium’s Museum Rentals Department generates earned income for the museum through the promotion, sales and management of the facility for rental events. The on-call Event Explainers are on the frontlines of the Museum Rentals staff, interacting with Special Event guests during rental events and facilitating guests’ interaction with exhibits. They are also responsible for exhibit moves and monitoring the safety of guests and the museum. This on-call position reports to the Museum Rentals Manager.
