Eye Care for Animals - Bestgate is looking for a Practice Leader Veterinary Technician to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You
The Practice Leader is responsible for the general management of the veterinary practice ensuring overall success while meeting benchmarks. In addition to their primary job responsibilities as a veterinary technician, tasks include reporting, payroll processing, hiring and employee supervision.
 Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Eye Care for Animals is seeking a Full-time Practice Lead Veterinary Technician to join our team in Maryland. Four-day work week!  Hours typically are 8 am-5:30 pm and may include after-hours and/or on-call responsibilities. 
Our ideal candidate is someone who likes to work hard and strives to provide excellent customer service.
 Other qualifications include:
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical veterinary experience as a veterinary technician (direct patient care)
  • Supervisor/advanced technical skills
  • Has 2 years of supervisory experience (in a veterinary clinic setting)
  • Licensed Technician preferred, but not required
  • Proficient in IV catheters placement, blood work, and IV, IM, and SQ injections
  • Has strong anesthesia skills (able to obtain blood pressure, ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care)
  • Ability to coach, lead and manage staff at various levels of the organization
  • Team player
  • Eager to learn and is self-motivated
  • Enjoys a challenging and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills (email, uploading/downloading files, typing, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task with a smile

Job Overview:
The Practice Lead Veterinary Technician is responsible for a variety of tasks related to customer service and patient care within the veterinary practice.  Tasks include animal handling, pre, and post-operative patient care, creating and presenting financial options and estimates, accurately entering service charges into the client processing database, extensive client interaction, and preparing medications. Leadership tasks include payroll processing, hiring, employee supervision, conflict management, and training. Compensation is based on experience and skill set.
