Job Roles

• Consult with physicians in filling prescriptions for patients being treated.
• Consult with physicians and patients about appropriate over-the-counter medications for common ailments.
• Review physician orders and prepare medications accordingly.
• Monitor patients’ drug therapies. Assist in managing the delivery of a complex set of medications.
• Ensure medications, and compound pharmaceuticals are properly dispensed.
• Instruct patients on how and when to take prescribed medicine to include information on side effects that may be experienced from taking the medication.
• Manage side effects and reactions related to drug interactions for patients taking multiple medications.
• May provide advice on healthy topics, i.e. diet, exercise, and managing the symptoms of living life.
• Ensure all federal and state drug laws are followed, to include maintaining records of all controlled substances and informing management of any changes that may be needed for compliance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

• Current and active license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy required.
• Current CPR certification.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

• Demonstrated experience functioning as a Pharmacist.
• Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural and economic groups.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of community-based/clinic-based patient care.
• Basic computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations (i.e., electronic medical record documentation, obtaining background information and reports on patients, etc.).

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
