Medicare Billing Specialist

FellowshipLIFE, Inc. is excited to offer an opportunity for a Medicare Billing Specialist to join our growing finance team! In this role, you will support three senior living communities across New Jersey, leveraging your expertise in Medicare billing, which is required for consideration. Prior experience in healthcare billing—especially with Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) billing—is essential, and familiarity with multi-state organizations is a plus. As a Medicare Billing Specialist, you will manage a variety of tasks to ensure accurate billing and payment processing for multiple facilities, working closely with facilities and other departments to maintain seamless workflows and ensure all information and procedures are accurately managed.


Essential Functions:
  • Manage accounts receivable billing and collection of payments for all designated payers and designated locations in order to meet and maintain goals.
  • Monitors Medicare Part A and B, Hospice and Outpatient Part B to ensure billing and claims are accurately and timely filed on behalf of their designated facility for both Primary and Secondary payers.
  • Monitor A/R aging focusing on accounts requiring further attention by involving the A/R and Billing Supervisor and/or nursing home staff.
  • Determine if Medicare is the primary or secondary payer.
  • Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or rejected claims.
  • Ensure that medical codes and information are accurate.
  • Understanding of Fiscal Intermediary Standard System (FISS) and how to correct and enter claims, check claim status and eligibility.


Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Medicare and/or insurance reimbursement systems, including billing forms and requirements for various third-party payers, is required.
  • Long-term care billing experience is preferred.
  • Two or more years of Accounts Receivable experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with a strong focus on Excel, and experienced in using a variety of accounting software.
  • Familiarity with PointClickCare, Inovalon, and MatrixCare is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of regulations affecting skilled nursing facility business offices.
  • Working knowledge of infusion CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10) is essential for success.
