Fiber Quality Control Manager

Major Duties


Classification: Exempt, Non-Bargaining

Works directly with managers to ensure compliance with the Company's safety, administration and installation method's and procedures. Responsibilities relate to the installation and maintenance of telecommunications technology serving external customers. Provides planning, analysis, recommendations and work guidance in support of productivity, quality and customer service. Works with and supports multiple departments including: Fleet, engineering, supply chain, installation and maintenance, central office operations and equipment installation. Responsible for managing the activities of a department/sub-function with responsibility for financial and/or operational results. Translates functional/operational goals into team goals. Manages implementation of policies, procedures, and programs. Responsible for projects or broad programs. Provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise across multiple large-scale, complex initiatives. Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards. Regularly interacts with senior management.

Performs job duties consistent within safety, legal, and regulatory requirements; company standards, culture and business practices. Acts with the highest level of business and personal ethical standards in all aspects of job performance.

Responsibilities

  • Visit customer locations and work sites to review work completed by technicians and contractors performing work on fiber service orders and troubles.
  • Review and score finding, summary reports and continuous feedback to ensure compliance with Company expectations. Accountable for results in terms of costs, budgets, operational goals and employees.
  • Develop best practices and work with management team on implementation of said practices.
  • Exercises judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Assist local management in operational objectives, including coverage during peak, holiday and vacation periods.
  • Act as an advisor and or expert to subordinates for elevated issues and problems. Works on diverse issues that require significant interpretation.
  • Responsible for projects or broad programs. Provides technical leadership and subject matter expertise across multiple large-scale, complex initiatives. Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards.
  • Contributes to departmental activities and programs by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • Possesses a broad knowledge of FTTP (BPON, GPON, XGSPON) and home networks (routers and wifi management).
  • Possessed fiber product knowledge, including services and installation techniques.
  • Must have broad understanding of administration, safety and installation/troubleshooting methods and procedures associated with fiber orders.
  • Understands management techniques with the ability to resolve employee relations issues, performance and rewards issues.
  • Accountable for project or program results. Exercises considerable judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Work is varied within a sometimes ambiguous environment. Work requires constant interpretation. Solves a wide range of complex problems. Provides solutions to multiple business or technical issues that have organization-wide impact.
  • Advanced skills within a professional discipline and general knowledge of other areas. Requires independent thinking. Demands full use and application of principles, theories, concepts and technologies.
  • Must be competent in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Oracle Field Service (OFS)
  • Possesses quality assurance and KPI evaluation experience
  • Experience coordinating vendor activity with technical productivity

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience, including 1 year of managerial experience
