How Field Data Collectors Help Drive Our Research
  • NORC Field Data Collectors, internally known as field interviewers, play a significant role in collecting the data that drives our research.
  • They conduct phone and in-person interviews to gather survey data for research on subjects including health care, employment, education, and economics.

The Ideal Candidate for Field Data Collector
  • Looking for flexible, part-time work (20 – 25 hours a week). Our most successful interviewers typically dedicate 4-6 hours a day to interviewing.
  • Self-starter who can manage, organize, and commit to your own work schedule.
  • Enjoys meeting new people from diverse backgrounds and professions.
  • Available to meet with people in-person at their homes, jobs, or other public spaces to conduct interviews, sometimes without notice to the residents.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends when people are more likely to be at home.
  • Has interviewing, sales, or customer service experience.

Requirements for Employment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Evidence of identity and authorization to work in the United States (i-9 documentation)
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation

Pay Transparency
  • The pay range for this position will be per hour $17.50, based on experience and geographic location. NORC will contribute to an individually owned, fully vested retirement account with TIAA at a rate of $4.41 for each hour worked, and contributions will be made on a quarterly basis.
  • Opportunity to earn more for bilingual speakers.
  • NORC will provide compensation for training hours, mileage reimbursement, and other approved expenses.
  • Eligible for paid sick leave.

  • Opportunity for annual raises and/or performance bonuses for those who meet performance goals.
  • Possibility for advancement into full-time management roles.
  • Receive annual retirement contributions from NORC after completing a minimum of 1,000 working hours within pay calendar year.
  • Receive six-hours of pay for two additional holidays.

What You Will Receive to be Successful
  • Field training from our corporate teams.
  • NORC project issued tablet or laptop.

Other Important Details to Note
  • The expected date for joining NORC as an employee is in October 2023, while the anticipated start of field work is projected to be in December 2023 or January 2024.
  • Field data collection is project-based work that ends once the research is complete. It is temporary employment with many opportunities to work on other surveys once your initial research study is complete.
  • Because of the temporary nature of field work, these positions are great for students, teachers, retirees, and others who are looking for flexible, contracted work.
