Field Observer-OSSBS

Position Overview:

The University of Central Oklahoma has a research contract with the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office to complete a Highway Safety Observation Study for 2023. This study will include a Seat Belt Survey, Child Restraint Survey, and Helmet Use Survey. The Field Observer will be hired from approximately May 16th - August 30th, 2023, and will complete training as well as collect data for this study during this time. This is a seasonal, part-time position.

All travel will be in the State of Oklahoma. All travel will be in the State of Oklahoma. **Note** This position is 100% remote and flexible for locations across the state of Oklahoma.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

• Travel to various locations in Oklahoma to observe and record data on Seat Belt Usage Survey
• Travel to various locations in Oklahoma to observe and record data on Child Restraint Survey
• Complete all data entry sheets and turn in all deliverables by July 15, 2023
• Re-survey any suspect data

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
• College experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Good organizational skills
• Excellent typing and computer skills

Physical Demands:

Candidates must be able to stand outside their vehicles to observe oncoming traffic. Observations will be conducted between the hours of 7 AM and 7 PM during the months of June and July and candidates must be able to withstand the Oklahoma summer weather conditions.
