The Opportunity
As a Financial Reporting Consultant, you will focus on financial reporting received from the service providers and/or the preparation of financial analysis for the mutual funds. Additionally, you will work on special projects and ad hoc requests, as needed.
The Team
The Mutual Fund Operations Team is comprised of eight individuals who are focused on expense budgeting and accruals, mutual fund security valuation, regulatory reporting, and process improvements. The expense budgeting and accrual employees are responsible for monthly updates to fund budgets, processing of fund expenses, quarterly board reporting, and reviewing quarterly financial statements. The valuation employees are focused on the nightly fair valuation process, monthly reporting to the valuation committee, quarterly reporting to the board, and oversight of third-party pricing vendors. We have a culture of communication, understanding, and accountability. We are a very collaborative and open team with individuals who have varying levels of education and work experience. The team is motivated to work together, create efficiencies in their processes, create automation whenever possible, and encourages cross-training within the group. The team started out with a single employee and has grown over the years, with continuity on the team from 1-13 years.
The Impact
New regulatory requirements have increased demand for reporting and filings. As a result, we are looking for an experienced financial reporting professional who will be responsible for the following:
Establishing and adhering to regulatory reporting deadline calendars (quarterly, semi-annual, and prospectus)
Managing internal and external party deliverables related to regulatory reporting filings
Assisting in the preparation and review of financial statements, prospectus filings, and other regulatory filings
Compiling internal and external comments related to regulatory filings
Updating footnote library and expense notes for fund actions throughout the period
Assisting in the implementation of new regulatory requirements
Working on special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned by the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer
The Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree in accounting/finance OR at least 4+ years professional financial reporting experience in lieu of degree
2+ years of related financial reporting experience
Experienced user of Microsoft Excel
The Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
Knowledge of investments, mutual fund operations, and regulatory reporting requirements
Advanced user of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, and queries)
Experience in the area of process improvement
Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
Thrives in both a team and self-motivated environment
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication
Effective time management and communication skills
Works independently of direct supervision
Position Location - Springfield, MA
You will be required to work from our Springfield, MA office 2-3 days per week.
