Fish and Wildlife Biologist - job 1 of 2
Duties
As a Fish and Wildlife Biologist your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Works across programs, other government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to promote conservation and restoration of ecosystem services aimed at restoring the effects of natural resources injuries from environmental contaminants and spill related impacts to fish and wildlife trust resources.
- Builds and maintains networks and alliances among conservation and restoration partners, facilities networking among a community of practice, and creates links between scientists, decision-makers, and land managers.
- Formulates well written and technically sound correspondence, comments, reports, recommendations, oral presentations, comprehensive strategies, and a variety of other communication products as necessary to identify, explain, and promote Service positions and policies to Service personnel, other regulatory entities, project proponents and consultants, other stakeholders, political representatives, and the public.
- Maintains broad awareness of established and evolving state, regional and national level legislation, policies, regulations, issues and activities related to damage assessment and restoration, spill response and mitigation planning.
- Coordinates with other Regional counterparts and provides input to Regional Programs and Headquarters staff regarding Regional and National guidance and strategies related to natural resource damage assessment and restoration (NRDAR).

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification.
Basic Requirement:
A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resources management, or related discipline appropriate to the
position being filled.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in biological sciences, agriculture, or
natural resources - or at least 24 semester hours in biological sciences, natural resources, wild land fire management,
forestry, or agriculture course work equivalent to a major field of study - plus - appropriate experience or -additional
education that is comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of
study in the biological sciences; agriculture, or natural resources.
Minimum Qualification [GS-11]
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates
your experience in reviewing environmental documents; and your familiarity with the ecological restoration
process; OR
- A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to
such a degree; or possession of a LL.M. degree, if related. Graduate level education must demonstrate the
competencies necessary to do the work of the position, examples of qualifying fields include biological sciences,
agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position; OR
- A combination of education and experience as described in 1 and 2 above which together equals 100% of the requirement
Minimum Qualification [GS-12]
- One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your
experience in independently writing environmental documents; and leading planning activities related to ecological
restoration projects. NOTE: Resume must show hours on experience, where, when, and how duties were performed.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

to insure management plans are current. Assists with implementation of management plans, studies and
investigations required for species propagation/production, resource protection, ecological factors, public
information, and other aspects of natural resource management.
