Job Description:

The Fleet Strategy Business Consultant invests in the future of Southwest’s People by supporting the Technical Operations Department by conducting in-depth research and analysis to support long-term planning and fleet-related strategic initiatives. This role also collaborates with Teams in Finance and Engineering to build a holistic fleet plan to align with the enterprise strategy. The Fleet Strategy Business Consultant is strategic and agile and enjoys working in a dynamic environment to solve complex problems.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. The Department designates the specific three days of the week Employees must work on-site.

U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S. is required , and no current or future work authorization sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of airlines' priorities, value drivers, and challenges to translate technical needs to the commercial and business teams involved in the work

Develop quantitative models to analyze complex operational problems and develop the expertise of the underlying business processes that the data represents

Contribute to developing strategies and business insights from qualitative and quantitative information

Help structure complex problems and act to holistically solve them

Develop well-written presentations that are clear and convey key information, including business cases, roadmaps, and other materials that support alignment efforts

Support special programs and initiatives that arise from unique operational challenges

Encourage consensus among multiple parties with conflicting and diverse viewpoints

Build confidence and sustain trusted relationships with key stakeholders

May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leader

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Advanced knowledge in either strategic planning, operations, or financial planning

Skilled in understanding and applying the information to contribute to the organization's strategic plan

Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems

Skilled in synthesizing information within PowerPoint presentations and delivering them to affected stakeholders

Ability to develop quantitative models to analyze complex operational problems

Ability to effectively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and in speaking with all levels of the organization

Ability to quickly understand assignments and complete them with minimal leadership oversight

Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
Quantitative modeling and analysis
Operations management
Developing strategies, plans, and solutions to address the complex or ambiguous problem
Driving initiatives of functional Teams
Preferred: Experience working in an airline, FP&A, or Tech Ops role
Licensing/Certification

Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines

Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $107,650 per year to $119,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
