Fleet Support Engineer

The Fleet Support Engineer on the BaseOps team will be actively engaged in the operational uptime of our fleet. The primary responsibilities include the diagnosis of complex hardware/software-related issues, interfacing with cross-functional engineering teams to drive resolution, capturing the troubleshooting details and placing them in the internal knowledge database, and generally being available to support the daily technical operations.

Responsibilities

    • Point of contact for real-time escalation from technicians of fleet issues
    • Document, amend, and maintain a troubleshooting guide for all technicians to use as faults are diagnosed and resolved
    • Establishing diagnostic procedures to expedite troubleshooting in the future
    • Historical review of vehicle/fleet data, parsing and interpreting vehicle logs and their physical implications
    • Work with Product Managers to capture feedback and Engineering teams to define a suite of tools dedicated to maximizing fleet availability
    • Work with engineering design to improve tooling and detection of issues
    • Work to implement effective countermeasures across the fleet
    • Define/capture required data points to validate issue resolution
    • Las Vegas position would require training in Foster City before deployment

Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace or autonomous vehicles
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Information Technology
    • Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), and how to safely troubleshoot
    • Understanding of hardware and software systems architecture, communications to support in an operations setting
    • Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drive specific resolution into single components
    • Self-starter, ability to build relationships across the company
    • Knowledge of Linux systems, especially as it pertains to networks, filesystems, and devices.

Bonus Qualifications

    • Experience with electric vehicle technology
    • Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
    • Hands-on experience with vehicle hardware
    • Experience with Linux & Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing
    • Experience with software that interfaces with hardware
    • Familiarity with networking, TCP, and socket programming
Compensation
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $164,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.

Vaccine Mandate
Employees working in this position will be required to have received a vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and/or the World Health Organization.
