About the Role

Our Fleet Management team is the heart of Nuro's vehicle operations and customer service. We are the customer support specialists, robot technicians, and vehicle operators who test and maintain our fleet of robots and support our customers to help ensure each delivery is the ultimate user experience.

The Fleet Support Specialist role is an entry-level position requiring some technical and/ or mechanical experience. As a Fleet Support Specialist, you will learn the basics of maintaining our Nuro fleet of vehicles and robots, as well as supporting the transfer and extraction of vehicles and robots.

About the Work

  • This is a hands-on job requiring onsite attendance
  • Ability to drive trucks with trailers to load other vehicles.
  • Perform sustaining tasks including fueling, charging, cleaning, and supply runs
  • Replace tires on robots and Fleet vehicles
  • Learn and have the ability to perform vehicle extractions from public roads with the use of a truck and trailer and other company assets.
  • Uphold Nuro safety standards while operating company vehicles on public roads
  • Implement daily vehicle checks and tasks to maintain efficient fulfillment of test requests and vehicle uptimes
  • Document all vehicle tasks and issues in our Fleet Tracking system
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to accomplish duties involving handheld remote controls requiring finger dexterity
  • knowledge of and/ or the ability to use a torque wrench
  • Maintain safety in our vehicle depots
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with Fleet Technicians, Fleet Management, and other cross-team members
  • Help maintain a clean and safe work environment and depot by participating in and maintaining a 5S area
  • Be flexible with an evolving work schedule and open to working an AM or PM shift with overlapping weekends
  • Willingness for occasional travel to other locations. < 5%
  • This position is subject to a 30-day training phase to determine skill proficiency and a 90-day probationary period.

About You

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associates/Bachelors courses/degree a plus
  • Automotive or IT Certification is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to perform light vehicle mechanical work
  • You enjoy vehicles and being around cars/trucks
  • Enjoy technology and like working with computers
  • Truck and Trailer driving experience is a plus
  • Clean driving record
  • Very task driven and precise
  • Proactive, highly detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent communicator verbally and written
  • Team focused, and a passion for continuous learning
  • Ability to adhere to a flexible schedule of operating times including weekends and evenings
  • Ability to remain flexible with the changing needs of the business

Bonus Points

  • Experience with backing up a trailer with a truck
  • Tow truck experience
  • Mechanical experience on vehicle or related equipment
  • Skills certifications: i.e. COMPTIA A+, course completion certificates, documented work experience
  • Experience working with Electric Vehicles and/or Autonomous Vehicles

Working Conditions and Essential Functions

Due to the nature of the position, this job requires:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Working in a variety of physical conditions for long periods of time such as crouching, stooping, reaching, bending, squatting, sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Working outside in all weather conditions for an extended amount of time.
  • Holding and grasping with hands when driving the vehicle, frequent use of foot/feet to operate foot pedals on the vehicle, and finger and hand dexterity.
  • Ability to sit in an enclosed vehicle for long periods of time.
  • Comfortability working in a fast-paced testing environment with moving vehicles and obstacles.
