Responsibilities

Deliver evidence-based healthcare economic and clinical information demonstrating the value of Otsuka’s portfolio. Account responsibilities include leading national accounts and affiliated partners (Insurer, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), Specialty Pharmacy and Provider Services), Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs) and Federal Markets (Public Health Services, Veterans Affairs and Department of Defense).

Lead development and execution of medical strategy for national accounts in alignment with Market Access National Account Directors and Otsuka’s medical strategic imperatives per approved policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Communicate national payer coverage changes to ecosystems with primary responsibility to Field Medical Affairs (FMA); develop strategies for downstream accounts in partnership with regional Managed Market Liaisons (MML).

Collaborate with national payer stakeholders to provide education and enhance patient outcomes using unbranded resources, including population health management, disease state education and Otsuka’s remote customer engagement platforms.

Lead Remote Customer Engagement projects through participation in workstreams, collaboration with market access, vendors, and matrix team partners. Lead for Payer aligned sections for remote customer engagement platforms.

Create and grow widespread relationships with national health care decision makers and maintain a comprehensive understanding of national managed care accounts to collect and communicate market insights to matrix partners including emerging trends of evidence requirements and healthcare system changes that may impact Otsuka strategies.

MML product lead for key therapeutic areas; liaises with respective therapeutic functional leads including Medical Strategy, Global Value and Real-World Evidence (GVRWE) and other internal stakeholders to communicate and implement resulting strategy with matrix team partners and stakeholders.

Provide strategic input and leadership in support of medical activities related to market access and payers. Leads and or significantly influence national cross functional teams and projects.

Provide clinical and health outcomes training for Market Access partners.

Collaborate with FMA Training team to update and create relevant resources and communicate training needs for the MML team.

Medical congress leader at key national payer congresses, which includes insight collection and communication, exhibit management, stakeholder engagement and matrix team coordination and collaboration.

Fosters a collaborative and learning environment that provides mentorship for regional MMLs. Leads with integrity to support Otsuka’s core values: perseverance, unconventional thinking, and humility.

Serve as Medical Affairs healthcare landscape expert at the national level.

Communicate key developments in national payer landscape to leadership and ecosystem partners. Independently identifies opportunities for improvement and can implement creative solutions to address unmet needs and applies/shares outcomes with ecosystem and national teams.

Serve as cultural ambassador within FMA, nationally across all therapeutic areas.
Qualifications
-
Education: Advanced degree required: Doctoral degree (PharmD., M.D. or PhD) strongly preferred in Pharmacy, Medicine, Biological Sciences, Health Services Research or Public Health.

7 + years of Managed care or similar experience within the pharmaceutical industry. 1-2+ years of MML or equivalent experience required.

Understanding and knowledge of current US healthcare system at a national level including landscape changes, payers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs), vertical integration of healthcare.

Knowledge of clinical and pharmacoeconomic concepts including modeling, real-world evidence, health outcomes and clinical trial designs.

Excellent organizations skills and the ability to prioritize and work effectively in a continually evolving environment in both an independent and collaborative manner.

Demonstrates the Patient first mindset and the ability to gain insights and identify customer needs and opportunities. Able to identify solutions with the overall goal of improved patient outcomes.

Strategic thinking combining business acumen and clinical expertise.

Understands Otsuka's business model and value proposition, competitive intelligence, and other marketplace factors/dynamics. Strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape.

Strong conflict resolution skills: proven ability to achieve conflict resolution effectively and quickly with affected parties and work in a cross-functional environment.

Willingness to travel (60-80% travel time).

Annual Salary :
Minimum $174,491.00 - Maximum $260,935.00, plus annual incentive: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with states and local laws.
