Compensation: $64,000-$74,000 per year

Travel Percentage: 25%

Reports to: Nevada State Director

JOB SUMMARY

For Our Future Nevada seeks a State Operations & Training Manager to design, build and manage a robust training program and facilitate day-to-day operations. The Operations Manager & Training Manager will also be responsible for onboarding staff and supporting all other aspects of the hiring process, inventory management, logistical support, assisting with payroll and Human Resources issues, and other HR/operations duties as assigned. This program will include voter contact engagement and relationship building, organizational management (including support as we pivot tactics), and a curriculum to share best practices for high-quality, data-driven field and organizing programs.

This position requires creativity and flexibility due to the fast-paced nature and mission of our organization. 


This position is anticipated to run through at least December 12, 2024.


POSITION CLASSIFICATION

For Our Future recognizes a staff bargaining unit, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 2304, a labor union. This position is NOT included in the For Our Future bargaining unit.


Essential Functions - Training
  • Create and conduct trainings (in person and virtual) focused on but not limited to: staff onboarding, effective organizing and relationship building, voter contact tactics and tools, and GOTV.
  • Working in conjunction with the in state and national Field, Digital, Data, Communications, and Operations Departments to provide assistance for staff trainings for programmatic rollouts.
  • Execute a multi-pronged volunteer training program that engages supporters online and offline with an emphasis on direct voter contact, storytelling, and building quality relationships with the electorate. 
  • Develop a distributed training program with a focus on train-the-trainer tactics and coaching beyond initial trainers/training.
  • Applying training best practices to ensure training is professionally and experientially designed.
  • Work with state leadership and national department heads on identifying skills gaps among staff members where training will help further achieve quantitative and qualitative programmatic goals.


Essential Functions - Operations
  • Assist with in-state hiring, including: perform phone screens, schedule and conduct interviews, and verify references.
  • Order, store, track and organize all office supplies, PPE & COVID tests, as well as equipment, including ensuring equipment is returned at the end of the election.
  • Assist state leadership & HQ to track and monitor expenses and outgoing disbursements including, but not limited to, invoices from vendors and contractors, check and wire requests and credit card payments for expenses, lease agreements, internet contracts, and other contracts
  • Update internal operation procedures documents as needed.
  • Manage and resolve operational issues.
  • Store, file and retrieve corporate documents and reports as and when needed.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing letters and packages.
  • Perform general office administrative and clerical duties as well as other duties as assigned


Skills and Qualifications
  • 2 cycles of experience executing statewide issue advocacy or electoral campaigns, experience working or volunteering on a field campaign is a plus. 
  • Ability to write compelling training materials, program reports, fundraising/marketing documents, and program debrief reports; examples of past training materials and curriculum may be requested. 
  • Ability to apply training best practices and develop trainings to varying audiences in traditional and non-traditional training settings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective and successful electoral programs, including voter contact tactics and GOTV best practices.
  • Understanding of the general progressive landscape at the local and state level, required; Nevada experience preferred.
  • Experience training others to be trainers, preferred.
  • Experience managing staff and/or interns preferred.
  • Familiarity with grant management, electoral compliance and/or non-profit tax law budget implications, a plus.
  • Basic computer literacy and database skills, required; familiarity with G-Suite and Google Sheets preferred.
  • Reliable access to functioning computers and internet access, preferred.
  • Strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Extraordinary attention to detail.
  • Multi-tasker with excellent time management skills and ability to hit deadlines.
  • Solutions-oriented approach, with a willingness to take initiative, while juggling several priorities that may change quickly. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in high-pressure situations. Flexibility and a willingness to take on new tasks as the responsibilities and the position evolves.
  • Commitment to the mission; Dedication to grassroots, local organizing and empowering state/local organizations to lead; understanding of local community-based organizations and respect for their leaders and programs.


Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of moving around for voter contact activity
  • This is a hybrid position and will require a physical presence in the local office (Las Vegas)
  • Prolonged periods of remaining in a stationary position at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to transport up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to travel across Nevada

Expected Hours of Work
  • Normal hours of business are from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM Pacific Time Monday thru Thursday and 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturdays. However, employees will be required to work outside of normal business hours including weekends and nights.
  • Employees are required to abide by certain blackout dates during a campaign cycle or other key deadlines, and generally not allowed to take off during blackout periods. Emergencies are not affected by this policy.


Work Environment

Employees will be required to work and interact, in an office environment or otherwise, with coworkers, volunteers, voters, or community partners on a regular basis. If state and government stay-at-home orders, phased reopening orders, or other factors related to the COVID-19 virus (or any other reason) limit For Our Future’s ability to engage safely in in-person work, employees may be assigned other duties to be conducted from their homes.
