We are seeking an experienced GIS Technician to work with the Sales Team’s geospatial initiatives. The ideal candidate will work on GIS projects, provide GIS QA/QC, drive innovation in Forestry-related GIS tactics, and report to the GIS Strategy/Team Leader. The GIS Strategic Team Lead will develop and manage a work plan to ensure execution against issuance timelines and promote clarity amongst analysts supporting the Sales Team.


A successful GIS Technician will be an active member in promoting a culture of continuous improvement by supporting their team in the identification of additional training, process improvements, and/or tool improvements.   


Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement GIS projects from conception to completion.
  • Provide QA/QC for Property and Forestry maps.
  • Develop and implement GIS strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and integrity of spatial databases.
  • Stay current with GIS technologies and industry trends
  • Stay current with environmental regulations
  • Develop automated Geospatial techniques 


About You
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in geography or natural resource management. Bachelors preferred
  • GIS Certificate and/or 2+ years of experience in GIS, with at least 1 year in GIS QA/QC
  • Proficiency in ESRI ArcPro software suite and other relevant GIS tools
  • Strong knowledge of ArcPro Editing and Geoprocessing tools
  • Familiarity with remote sensing, LiDAR technologies and canopy coverage
  • Knowledge of web-based mapping applications, rest servers, and county data acquisition
  • Understanding of GPS data collection and processing
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and adapt to changing business priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Land management or natural resource experience preferred
  • Passion for forest conservation preferred
  • Authorized to work in the United States


$46,000 - $52,000 a year
The base salary range for this position is $46,000 - $52,000 subject to the chosen candidate’s experience, skills, certifications and qualifications, determination of which is made in the sole discretion of GIS Strategic Lead.

All employees are eligible to participate in health, insurance, and 401K plan benefits on their first day of employment. Chestnut Carbon pays 100% of the cost of the employees’ health/dental/vision insurance. During each fiscal year of employment, employees will be eligible to earn a discretionary annual incentive bonus, based on company and individual performance targets.
