Forma is looking for a Principal Software Engineer reporting to the VP of Engineering to help spearhead the technical vision of how we can build a best in class benefits experience to allow customers and members to access an easy-to-use and cutting-edge employee benefits platform that offers a wide range of health and wellness benefits to employees in a user-friendly and engaging manner.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead major engineering projects and strategic initiatives, showcasing in-depth knowledge of industry trends and effectively communicating complex technical issues. Additionally, you will contribute significantly to long-term strategic business thinking and drive engineering innovation.
Drive engineering innovation and culture across the entire company
Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
Spearhead research initiatives to explore new tools, frameworks, and methodologies
Guide the approach and execution of a particular team or group of teams
Drive engineering excellence by inspiring and empowering engineers across Forma
Dig deep into arbitrarily complex and critical problems and find an appropriate path forward until resolution
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements to architect, design and deliver high-quality solutions
Conduct thorough architectural reviews and improve quality in every step
Mentor and coach other engineers, especially staff level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
10+ years of experience shipping features and products, with a focus on backend systems at scale with a strong focus on accuracy, quality and security
5+ years developing APIs that are leveraged by an external audience.
Passion for building platforms in a rigorous, measurable and scalable way
Proficiency in a diverse set of programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript and Python
Possess a deep understanding of monorepos, microservices architecture and cloud technologies
Showcase strong expertise in database design and optimization
Built and operated real time financial systems at scale
Experience with infrastructure tooling and containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and extensive experience designing APIs
Understanding of security best practices in software development
