Technical Specialist - Non-metallic Materials

Forseven, a revolutionary company is looking to transform the EV industry through cutting-edge technology and innovative engineering practices, are seeking a Technical Specialist - Non-Metallic Materials to join our highly skilled and dynamic Research & Development team.

The role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of our offices in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire where the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most visionary minds in the automotive field.

Reporting to the Director of Research and Development , you will be responsible for providing specialized knowledge, guidance, and leadership regarding the properties, applications, and development of non-metallic materials across various projects and product lines.

What you will do:

    • Technical Expertise & Consultation: Serve as the primary expert on non-metallic materials, including polymers, composites, ceramics, elastomers, and other advanced materials. Provide strategic guidance on material selection, testing, performance, and lifecycle management.
    • Research & Development: Lead or support R&D efforts to explore new non-metallic materials, assess their feasibility, and evaluate their performance in various applications. Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in non-metallic materials.
    • Material Testing & Evaluation: Oversee material testing procedures, including mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing, to ensure materials meet the required standards and performance specifications.
    • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product design, quality assurance, and manufacturing, to resolve material-related challenges and optimize product designs.
    • Standards & Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant automotive industry standards, codes, and regulations related to non-metallic materials, and contribute to the development of internal material specifications and guidelines.
    • Training & Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers, technical staff, and other stakeholders on non-metallic materials, applications, and best practices.
    • Technical Documentation & Reporting: Prepare technical reports, material specifications, presentations, and white papers to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to stakeholders at all levels.
    • Engineering Support: Provide technical support and advice to stakeholders, helping them choose the right non-metallic materials for their applications and ensuring the successful integration of materials into end products.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (Master's or PhD), or equivalent experience
  • Hands on experience working with non-metallic materials in  automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, or construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of non-metallic materials, including polymers, composites, ceramics, and elastomers, and their applications in various industries.
  • Experience in material testing, failure analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing to R&D projects, product development, or material innovation.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and lead technical discussions.
  • Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, ASTM, MIL-SPEC, etc.) related to non-metallic materials.
  • Proficiency with material selection software and analytical tools.
