Job Description

Foxhole Technology is seeking a Security Engineer in support of a Government client.  The individual should be capable of maintaining, supporting the organization's testing platforms and providing overall platform administration.  The individual should be prepared to provide the following:

  • Perform tasks in accordance with all established processes and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations to update existing, or create new, processes and procedures to improve testing platform configuration, administration, maintenance.
  • Perform systems administration, management, and troubleshooting for all physical and virtualized testing platform assets, including Windows and Mac laptops, smartphones, MiFi devices, tablets, networking equipment, virtual machines, and other devices.
  • Perform inventory management, issuance, retrieval, and validation for all equipment, licenses, and services that support the testing team.
  • Maintain procedures for and manage all operating system and software installations on laptops and virtual machines. Ensure testing platform administration activities are successfully performed as described in the SOW for this task.
  • Monitor all testing platform assets for security vulnerabilities, STIG compliance, and configuration compliance, and coordinate resolutions with end-users.
  • Develop, maintain, and follow all established processes and procedures for the administration of the organization's testing platforms.
  • Ensure all updates (operating system, software, firmware, BIOS, etc.) are tested and functionality verified to maintain operation of the testing platforms.
  • Ensure all updates (operating system, software, firmware, BIOS, etc.) are applied to all testing platform assets between engagements.
  • Work with the system owner and stakeholders to implement processes for periodic remote system baselining.
  • Perform system health checks to confirm the operational status of all testing platforms.
  • Coordinate with the virtual machine administration team to troubleshoot or replace VMs when testing platform virtual machines experience performance degradation.
  • Support testing platform administration activities of a non-standard nature, including temporary use of non-standard hardware, as identified to provide a benefit to security testing requirements.
  • Continue to improve and enhance administration for disparate and disconnected systems, including zero-touch deployment solutions, expedited system reimaging, and software configuration management for disconnected systems.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least eight (8) years of technical IT security experience in system & network administration, security analysis, security testing and evaluation, security incident response, security monitoring, IT project implementation, or other similar hands-on technical activities.
  • At least five (5) years of experience supporting and administering Windows, Linux, and Apple systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience reviewing and tailoring systems for compliance with NIST and FIPS security controls, DISA STIGs, and CIS standards.
  • Experience working in groups as the sole security practitioner, as well as experience working in teams of various sizes of security personnel reviewing the same system.
  • Ability to be on-site in a government office at least twice monthly, and as needed based upon customer & user requirements, potentially up to weekly.
