About the Role

Franki’s Engineering team is seeking a Lead Mobile Engineer. This person will coach, guide, and mentor mobile developers to reach their full potential. They will be working with outside data sources and APIs, focusing on bug fixes, application performance improvements, and demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems while maintaining high coding quality standards. The right person for this role will not only be an experienced iOS/Android developer responsible for guiding our technical choices but will also play an essential role in leading the growth and development of our mobile engineers.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of junior mobile developers.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear team goals.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

  • Architecture Design: Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and robust architectures for mobile applications, considering factors such as platform requirements, performance optimization, and security.

  • Platform Expertise: Stay updated on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in mobile development platforms (e.g., iOS, Android, cross-platform frameworks) and leverage expertise to make informed technical decisions.

  • Code Quality: Ensure high code quality by conducting code reviews, implementing coding standards, and promoting best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and code refactoring.

  • Performance Optimization: Identify and implement performance optimization strategies to enhance the responsiveness, efficiency, and speed of mobile applications, including network optimization, resource management, and UI rendering.

You might be a good fit if you have...

  • 8+ years of experience with Android/iOS development and 6 years with Swift & Kotlin.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in a Mobile Development team-leader role.

  • Experience with RxAndroid, RxSwift & RxCocoa.

  • Proficiency in working with REST APIs on Kotlin.

  • Experience with Apple App Store and Google Play Store:

    • Proven track record of successfully releasing and managing mobile applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

    • Experience with managing app store assets, metadata, and app store optimization (ASO) strategies to improve app visibility and discoverability.

  • Firebase Experience: Proficiency in using Firebase platform services, including Firebase Analytics, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), and Firebase Remote Config.

  • Experience in Flutter

Perks & Benefits

  • Remote work: Our team works remotely across the US but primarily PST time zone; we travel together several times a year for company kick-offs and mid-year meetings.

  • PTO: 15 days per year, plus additional PTO between Christmas and the end of the year (25th Dec - 31st Dec). Additionally, we recognize 11 public holidays per year.

  • Medical, dental & vision: We cover 100% of Medical, Vision, and Dental insurance costs for employees and 50% for dependents.

  • Monthly Stipend: $40 (Tax-free) to cover home office expenses

The salary range for this role is…

  • $150,000.00 - $185,000.00 a year.
