Position is located at Talbott Tasting Room in Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA

$1,000 hiring bonus included!


Talbott Vineyards is a renowned winery in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California that specializes in producing estate-grown Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. With nearly 40 years of experience, they have honed the craft of creating distinct cool-climate wines from their legendary Sleepy Hollow Vineyard. The winery offers a unique wine-tasting experience in the charming and picturesque town of Carmel. Wine enthusiasts can savor Talbott Vineyards' exceptional wines and appreciate the best of California winemaking. The Tasting Room Representative works as part of a team to support Tasting Room operations in a manner that achieves the established financial goals, ensures a rich consumer experience, builds consumer loyalty and reflects the brand essence.


Compensation

  • Hiring Salary Range Posted: set rate listed as $23.75/hr-$23.75/hr + $1,000 hiring bonus!
  • In addition to the salary, this position is eligible to participate in tasting room tip pools, bonuses and incentive plans, as applicable
  • Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data

What You Will Do:

  • Prepares the tasting room for daily opening and closing.
  • Promotes the sale of wine and non-wine products sold in the visitor center; acts as informed resource for consumers regarding winemaking, winegrowing, and wine vintages, availability of products and brand award and accolade
  • Describes wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history; answers visitor’s questions about wines.
  • Assists and supports hospitality special events.
  • Participates in maintaining inventory and assists with counts and audits.
  • Understands and effectively communicates the Brand message.
  • Presents selected wines for tasting and assist consumers with their purchases..
  • Represents the company and brand, professionally, graciously and enthusiastically.
  • Provides general tourist information
  • safety regulatory consideration.

What You Will Need:

  • High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 2 years of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, marketing, or teaching and educating others experience.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to work weekends and a flexible schedule as needed.
  • Required to engage in frequent walking and standing.
  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.
  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Lift and move product weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Required to multi-task with focus on detail and switch gears quickly.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 1 year of tasting room, customer service, retail sales, wine industry, hospitality, team management, public relations, direct to consumer marketing, or wine education experience.
  • Skilled in communication, presentation, sales and customer service.
  • Knowledge of wine and wine production.
