As a Fundamental Research Group (FRG) Associate, you will work closely and collaborate with Investment Professionals and peers to deliver valuable insights, research data, and analysis that will be used to help inform investment decisions. You will work on projects and tasks with growing complexity, seeking direction and guidance from senior leaders as appropriate. You can self-direct and take interest in professional development, attending trainings and conferences, and identifying skills needed to strengthen your financial acumen, technical capabilities, and research fundamentals.
We have a particular interest in speaking with candidates familiar with analyzing the financial services sector and a desire to deepen their expertise in this area.
Primary Responsibilities
You will conduct research and analysis that is guided by stakeholders in the Investment Group (IG). This includes:
Creating and maintaining a variety of spreadsheets that are uniquely organized, sorted, and easily understood by the IG.
Collecting data through a variety of channels, including sell-side research firms, internal and external databases, trade publications, online sources, regulatory filings, etc.
Reviewing and organizing data, synthesizing information, and conducting analysis, with direction from the IG.
Researching market trends and actively accumulating knowledge of financial markets.
Applying new knowledge to a growing cross section of research and analytical work.
Executing on industry-focused company analysis.
You will prepare internal presentations and summaries of investment meetings.
You will attend Investment Group meetings and summarize key points for investment professionals.
You will work on special projects to support a broad range of business needs.
You will advance your capabilities and skills in financial acumen, accounting, technical capabilities, and tools.
You will learn and apply new capabilities in data sets, charts, dashboards, etc.
You will understand and adhere to Capital’s Code of Ethics, Compliance, and Disaggregation Policies.
Qualifications
You have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in equity research and/or investment banking.
You have a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, STEM or a relevant field of study.
You have extensive experience maintaining and updating financial models and performing due diligence when necessary.
You demonstrate strong working knowledge in Microsoft Excel and market data services tools, including Bloomberg, FactSet, Cap IQ, etc.
You’re intellectually curious and demonstrate analytical skills in areas of high complexity surrounding financial markets and industry trends.
You work well on projects by asking relevant questions, using sound judgment to identify resources, and determining appropriate analytical framework.
You communicate confidently to shape and influence outcomes, are highly proficient at distilling information and producing high-quality investment communication.
You enjoy collaborating and developing relationships with those inside and outside the organization to enable effective completion of business objectives.
New York Base Salary Range: $132,855-$212,568
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
