The Tester 4 will be responsible for the overall test strategy and test planning for a portfolio of established games. Their responsibilities will include representing QA in cross-functional partnerships across the company, ownership of department-wide technology updates, and interdepartmental improvement initiatives. This individual should have a deep understanding of QA and testing techniques, QA’s ideal role in the overall software development cycle, how to effectively share workload and partner with peers, how to split work amongst remote and on-prem teammates, and how to have a strong voice in business communications both up and down the ladder. A strong candidate will have the ability to understand technical, game, and business priorities—allowing effective communication to Production and testing staff.

Creating and implementing test strategies and plans for games

Working closely with Producers throughout the product lifecycle, from design to release

Working closely with and tasking vendor testers to execute those test plans

Planning testing around OS updates and API integrations

Tracking and reporting on sprints to production and QA management

Gathering and reporting on release metrics after game clients/servers are pushed live

Work with QA management to execute on department level goals

Creating and updating documentation around QA processes and best practices

Executing exploratory, performance, integration, and other complex testing tasks

Possessing flexibility to assist other QA members and projects as needed

Previous experience in a LiveOps environment and QA as a service

Previous experience with mobile testing

Strong understanding of the game software development lifecycle, particularly how the QA test cycle is affected by different development models

Strong understanding of game client/server interaction and testing approaches

Strong understanding of various test techniques and when to use them

Understanding of risk assessment and how to communicate risks effectively to stakeholders

Previous experience writing and executing test plans and test cases

Previous experience collaborating with remote teams

Previous experience with taking a game or update from start to release

Flexible and able to work in a fast paced, chaotic environment with changing deadlines

Strong communication skills, particularly when communicating with partners in different time zones and with different proficiencies in English

Understanding of the release process for iOS and Google portals
