The Test Station & Design Support Engineer is a key role within the Product Engineering (PE) Group, part of the Sustaining & Test (S&T) Engineering Group under the Original Equipment (OE) engineering side of the Avionics Business at GE Aerospace. Our mission is to develop, influence, and support new product and test design, optimizing producibility, testability, repairability, and sustainability throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Test Equipment (TE) and test environments for design verification and production acceptance testing of electronic avionics assemblies.
Set up and maintain TE systems in the production environment, ensuring operational availability.
Implement preventive and regular maintenance policies.
Diagnose product anomalies and failures, performing troubleshooting and diagnostics to determine root cause.
Implement corrective actions with associated documentation updates.
Provide technical support to manufacturing, including hands-on debug of test systems.
Support new design initiatives, managing requirements, designing electronic circuits, and developing test software for full test automation.
Integrate and verify test hardware and software with avionics product hardware and software.
Influence overall test strategy, test data analytics, and board test strategies for manufacturing.
Prepare materials for and participate in customer reviews and presentations.
Communicate significant issues or developments to project leadership.
Collaborate closely with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering teams.
Create test design documentation including specifications, drawings, procedures, software, verification procedures, and reports.
Required Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
0-3 years of experience in engineering, preferably in product and equipment design.
Knowledge and hands-on experience in electrical design for electronic equipment.
Proficiency in software development using C, C++, C#; system-level development.
Ability to interpret schematic circuit design and perform diagnostic troubleshooting.
Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., meters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers).

Desired Characteristics:
Experience in the Aerospace/Avionics industry.
Proficiency in C/C++, C#, National Instruments Test Stand, Lab Windows/CVI.
Knowledge of electrical design for test equipment (signal conditioning, signal conversion, stimulus synthesis, filtering, cable harness design).
In-depth knowledge of automated test engineering disciplines.
Strong problem-solving and root cause corrective action skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to document, plan, lead, and execute assignments.
Ability to manage assignments to meet requirements, schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
