Data Scientist

Our work depends on Data Scientist joining our team to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services ensure program integrity through advanced integration of data. The Data Scientist will review, evaluate, design, implement and maintain environmental databases. Use database management concepts, storage and query/retrieval methods, statistical analyses, and programming languages to perform analyses, develop plans and recommendations, and prepare required level of documentation. Comply with project specifications, including format and content of input/output data and functions to be performed by computer programs.
HOW A DATA ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
Develops data-driven solutions to business challenges of moderate scope/complexity.
Utilizes advanced tools and computational skills to interpret, connect, predict, and make discoveries in data.
Evaluates the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques.
Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
Assist with identifying opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions through analytic insights.
May develop processes and machine learning based tools to monitor and analyze model and performance and data accuracy.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Bachelor of Science in computer science, information systems, or related field
● Required Experience: 2+ years of related experience supporting database and reporting and analytic solutions for CMS
● Required Technical Skills:
Strong working experience with SQL and other databases (i.e., DB2, Postgres, AWS Aurora).
Strong analytic and problem-solving experience working through complex data challenges.
Experience working with APIs, Apache NiFi, Kafka, ETL development and methodologies.
Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
Experience working with BI reporting tools such as Business Objects, Cognos, Tableau, etc.
Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate with others effectively and efficiently.
● Preferred Skills:
Experience supporting CMS working with healthcare data supporting program integrity. Advanced problem solving and strong communication skills.
Experience in information architecture, data architecture, data modeling, data governance, ETL design, data quality and BI analytics.
● Location: Remote/Hybrid
●Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $76,500 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
