FILING MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE.The Department of Library Services has immediate openings for the part-time, GENERAL LIBRARIAN I NON-CAREER position. Under the direction of a Senior Librarian the incumbent is responsible for serving as a backup librarian, performing professional and technical library work, including references/advisory services, cataloging, and providing additional program assistance, as needed.Non-Career employees are allowed a maximum of 1600 work hours over 12 months and are considered temporary, at-will employees who are not typically eligible for benefits. However, non-career employees may qualify for health coverage and sick leave accruals subject to applicable federal and state provisions. The incumbent in this position will typically work 18 to 24 hours per week.

Provides reference assistance in person, by telephone, by mail, or electronicallyAssists and advises readers in the selection of library materialsPrepares reading lists, bibliographies, and exhibitsAssists with the evaluation and selection of library materialsPrepares regular and special statistical and narrative reportsPlans and conducts special programs and projectsParticipates in community outreach programsProvides instruction in the use of print and electronic resources for the public and City staffMay supervise non-professional library staffMay act as lead in the absence of the Senior LibrarianPerforms other related duties as required
