Delaware Basin Overview

Spanning West Texas through Southeast New Mexico, ConocoPhillips holds approximately 709,000 total net acres in the Delaware Basin, which includes approximately 654,000 unconventional net acres. ConocoPhillips began exploring and appraising the basin’s stacked pay potential in 2012. The position grew to its current size through the Concho and Shell transactions. Entering 2022, the company now operates over 2,200 wells throughout the Basin.

Average net production across the basin in 2021 was 286 MBOED and 95 new operated wells were brought online.

Description

If selected as the Delaware Basin West Geoscience Analyst, you will provide support by ensuring the development and maintenance of documents and implementation of procedures for certain critical facilities in the asset.

You may be eligible for the voluntary hybrid office work (HOW) program that is designed to provide employees with flexibility while maintaining the advantages of in-person engagement.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Independently run Permian Basin Studio database fidelity and standardization
  • Create high quality maps for industry activity, operational planning, and budget updates in Petrel and ArcGIS
  • Load, format, and transfer data across geologic, reservoir engineering, and data science software platforms
  • Interact with geological analysts, geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and data scientists to complete specifically assigned projects

Qualifications


Basic/Required:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
  • 1+ years of experience as a geological technician or technical analyst

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of experience with Petrel and Studio
  • Ability to handle and QC mud logs, open and cased hole logs, and directional surveys
  • Proficient with horizontal planning and drilling operations
  • Proficient in ArcGIS, GGX and Trinity
  • Current employment in the petroleum industry
  • Efficient communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, as project priorities and scope change
  • Ability to anticipate, plan, and coordinate requests in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Identify and strive for continuous process improvement
  • Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
  • Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
  • Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
