Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a GIS Systems Administrator to join our global IT team supporting our growing Enterprise GIS environment.

 

This position offers the option to work in a hybrid setting from either our Santa Barbara, CA, Seattle, WA, or Denver, CO office locations, or the option to work fully remotely from your home office. You will leverage your GIS education and skills in ArcGIS technology administration, technical support, and data management to assist in maintaining and enhancing GIS solutions that enable project teams to deliver environmental assessments, remediation strategies, water resources management, geotechnical monitoring, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ArcGIS Enterprise Administration:

  • Assist in administration of ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Online/Portal), including user management, group/content management, and permissions.
  • Coordinate with IT support staff to address user access, permissions, and license assignments for Esri ArcGIS products.
  • Publish, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise GIS map services.
  • Perform basic ArcSDE database tasks using SQL Server.

Technical Documentation & Training:

  • Develop and maintain GIS Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) and Knowledge Base (KB) articles.
  • Conduct GIS training sessions, webinars, and regular check-in meetings to support internal user groups.

GIS Business Tool Support:

  • Support and maintain web-based GIS business tools using ArcGIS Enterprise and Geocortex platforms.
  • Collaborate with business units to ensure tool enhancements and maintain data accuracy.

Vendor Management:

  • Open, track, and manage support tickets with Esri technical support.
  • Act as a liaison between Esri support and Geosyntec GIS users.

Additional:

  • Stay current with GIS industry trends through training, webinars, and conferences.
  • Provide end-user support, effectively prioritizing and escalating service needs; collaborate with GIS and IT teams to facilitate GIS software upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure enhancements.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, Environmental Science, or related field. (required)

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum seven (7) years related experience working with GIS databases, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online/Portal administration, and Esri licensing management, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a GIS administrator role, including enterprise geodatabase administration. (required)
  • Exposure to scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, ArcPy, Arcade) for GIS task automation. (preferred)
  • Familiarity with web GIS applications, dashboards, field data collection tools (Survey123, Field Maps), and/or GIS API integrations. (preferred)
  • Experience with GIS infrastructure in cloud environments (Azure/AWS). (preferred)
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. (required)
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. (required)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an IT support team. (required)
  • Ability to work under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and resolve or escalate system issues. (required)
  • Proven organizational, planning, customer service, and responsiveness skills. (required)
  • Self-starter capable of meeting deliverables and timeline requirements. (required)
  • Flexibility to travel to company offices as needed (up to 10%). (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

 

  • Minimum Salary: $103,415/year / Maximum Salary: $135,000/year (Santa Barbara, CA)
  • Minimum Salary: $ $103,415/year / Maximum Salary: $135,000/year (Seattle, WA)
  • Minimum Salary: $98,715/year / Maximum Salary: $115,000/year (Denver, CO)

 

We offer a comprehensive benefits package to all eligible employees including, 9 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, a minimum of 8 sick days, and a minimum of 11 vacation days per year, in line with state or federal requirements.
