The Gift Accounting Coordinator is an essential part of our small, highly collaborative team of data professionals supporting the fundraising goals of Reed College. This position is responsible for receiving, recording, and legally receipting charitable contributions to the college. This position reports to the Associate Director of College Relations and Information Systems.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, on campus role with work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one hour unpaid lunch. The pay for this position starts at $27-$30 per hour.

  • You have excellent and effective communications skills and you enjoy establishing and maintaining relationships with staff, faculty, students, the general public, and other agencies.
  • You know how to document your work and others commend you for your ability to provide clear explanations of departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
  • It is helpful, but not required, for you to have work experience in a fundraising office setting.
  • It is helpful, but not required, for you to have familiarity with IRS rules and regulations governing contributions to nonprofit organizations and with Council for Advancement and Support for Education (CASE) gift management guidelines.

What You’ll Do

  • Process, report, and acknowledge gifts and pledges
  • Prepare a variety of reports and tax receipt letters
  • Determine and implement appropriate processing methods regarding endowment funds, securities, and gifts-in-kind
  • Coordinate with external credit card processing in reconciling credit card gift transactions
  • Prepare daily reconciliation of gift income
  • Track outstanding pledges and generate pledge reminders
  • Manage the creation of new designations within the Advancement database
  • Create and manage documentation related to gift processing
  • Collect, select, classify, catalog, and compile data from several sources
  • Ensure data quality by implementing appropriate assessment tools, ensuring accurate analysis and measurement of gift/pledge data
