As a People First organisation, we’re happy to discuss flexible working options.

Your Purpose

As a global beverage producer, we work closely with organisations such as United Nations, World Health Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union. As our Global Alcohol Policy Director, you will engage with these organisations, in addition to advocacy groups, to understand and influence matters which may affect our business, clients and consumers.

You’ll work closely with our Vice President for Government Affairs, to develop and execute advocacy strategies for Molson Coors whilst coordinating industry and regulatory policy solutions with commercial counterparts in Legal, Corporate Affairs and with Molson Coors business units. This is an opportunity to collaborate extensively across the drinks industry, and influence at a global scale.

This role will require travel across Europe on an ad-hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Representing Molson Coors before global regulatory and legislative bodies that have oversight or influence of global alcohol policies, frameworks, and guidance, including alcohol taxes, consumption policies, marketing guidelines, health impacts, and others – such organizations would include the United Nations, World Health Organization, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Union.
  • Coordinating advocacy strategy and tactics with alcohol industry advocacy groups (International Alliance for Responsible Drinking, Worldwide Brewing Alliance, Brewers of Europe, and others).
  • Working closely with Molson Coors corporate affairs, marketing, sales, legal, emerging growth, and communications teams to build and implement alcohol responsibility strategies, ensure that international commitments on alcohol policy are adhered to and that the teams are informed of developing changes in the alcohol policy space, including convergence within the alcohol market.
  • Building strong relationship networks among international government affairs communities and networks.
  • Working closely with counterparts within the alcohol industry and specifically the beer industry to advance a common agenda for global alcohol policy.
  • Representing Molson Coors at meetings of international organizations such as IARD, WBA, BoE, etc.

About You

We’re looking for someone who can identify and manage challenges in the mid to long term future, using your regulatory process experience and politic acumen to guide at a global leadership level. You’ll also be able to approach such challenges creatively and enjoy a mix of hands-on operational and strategic work.
This could also be an opportunity for someone looking to diversify from a similar industry such as food or tobacco

You’re also likely to have:

  • Extensive experience in public affairs or political advocacy.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the structure and policy making processes at the United Nations, the World Health Organization, and the European Union.
  • Knowledge of and experience with regulatory processes in multiple countries that drive policy positions at UN/WHO/EU.
  • Strong political acumen that understands the intersection of policy and politics, especially in a highly regulated industry with recognizable brands.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate governmental issues into executable strategies or responses within the company.
  • A passion for beer and a strong bias for action, delivery and internal communication.
  • Previous experience with highly regulated industries, including those subject to regulatory agendas at the UN/WHO/EU.
  • Previous experience with or knowledge of international and regional alcohol policy and the global and regional beer industry would be ideal – we can however support you to gain this if you have experience in a similar industry.
