The Headlines:
Quality Technicians are an integral part of the Quality lab team operations as they are responsible for safely collecting samples from brewing and packaging operations and accurately processing all samples as needed for timely analysis.
This role requires understanding and consistent use of aseptic technique and Good Lab Practices throughout each shift. It also requires safe, appropriate, and frequent use computers, databases, two way radios, personal CO2 monitors, laminar flow hoods, vacuum systems, autoclaves, aerobic incubators, anaerobic incubators, centrifuges, microscopes, pipettes, lab glassware, carts, tricycles, grab sample bottles, dishwashers, and coolers and freezers.
The Quality Technicians provide around the clock coverage of lab operations by working a 4 X 4 rotating schedule which requires excellent communication, collaboration, and customer service. Full time Quality Technicians are expected to learn and become subject matter experts in all Quality Technician responsibilities in order to provide guidance and support for new and/or contingent team members and ensure the success of the team. They are active participants in Quality Lab Team meetings, goal accomplishments, initiatives, events, improvements, communication and teamwork.

Quality Technicians must also adhere to all safety guidelines and expectations as well as Department, Brewery, and Company policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
The Responsibilities:
Safely and accurately collect samples as required throughout the brewery per sample guidelines
Safely process all required samples with compliance to sample plan guidelines and lab protocols and procedures for microbiology, chemistry, and sensory analysis
Safely and appropriately apply aseptic technique and utilize laboratory equipment such as laminar flow hoods, vacuum system, autoclave, aerobic incubators, anaerobic incubators, compressed gas, centrifuge, microscopes, thermometers, pipettes, coolers and freezers
Provide accurate and timely escalation of any process, product or equipment errors or problems
Accurately and frequently communicate with team members and customers to ensure all required lab tasks are completed in a timely fashion
Accurately create and interpret sample labels and report data as required
Adhere to all rules, regulations, policies, and programs established by the Molson Coors Quality Management System, Quality Lab Department, Golden Brewery/ Valley and Molson Coors
Knowledgeable of all Quality Technician positions and tasks and offer guidance/ support for new or contingent technicians to ensure success of the team
Actively participate and Quality Lab meetings, communications, goal accomplishment and teamwork
The Other Qualifications:
- Education or experience in a science- related field (Brewing Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Cereal Science etc.)
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of microbiology and chemistry
- Understand importance of compliance to standard operating procedures and test methods
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrument maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting
- Basic understanding of brewing and/ or product packaging processes
- Familiarity with quality systems, computer operations, and data entry
- Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational, time management and planning skills
- Experience with problem solving, continuous improvement, 5S, GMP, and food safety
- Flexibility with schedule as needed to support rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, vacation coverage and production requirements
- Able to collect samples from a variety of environmental conditions in the manufacturing facility
