Global Health Corps

Since 2009, Global Health Corps (GHC) has built a network of 1,200+ next gen leaders committed to transforming health systems. Through a robust fellowship and alumni program, and through customized offerings for global health organizations, GHC seeds the health sector with innovative and resilient young leaders and invests in them to grow and drive systems change throughout their careers. GHC serves as a critical talent pipeline for its partners, an entry point to global health for non-clinical leaders who join as fellows, and a leadership accelerator for alumni and their networks. GHC leaders are concentrated in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, and the U.S., but the network has a truly global reach across 40+ countries and 450+ health organizations. 


Job Summary

GHC is developing a new vision for its US-based programming. The United States Program Coordinator (USPC) will play a critical role in contributing to the design and implementation of the U.S. Leadership Accelerator (USLA), a reimagined leadership development program for emerging health leaders in the United States, and cultivating and strengthening the network of 500+ US-based GHC alumni working in the health sector across the country. This role will provide critical support to the GHC Community Impact Team in connecting alumni across the globe to engage, share resources, and collaborate on GHC’s bespoke digital platform, GHC Connect.Reporting jointly to the Director of United States Programs (DUSP) and the Senior Director of Community Impact, this hire will have great enthusiasm for engaging and motivating people, while also being able to focus on the details and outcomes of successful project management. They will play an integral role in cultivating the connection of leaders in a tight-knit and active network across the United States and bring energy for building and refining something new to support the professional development of People of Color, women, and other historically underrepresented talent in health leadership roles.


Program Development & Operations
  • Specifically, the US Program Coordinator will:

  • In close collaboration with the DUSP, support the design, development, and implementation of a 9-month fellowship program for emerging and underrepresented talent working within the U.S. public health system. 
  • Support the work of the Community Impact Team to build-out alumni programming, networking opportunities, and ongoing professional development. 
  • Coordinate the USLA fellow recruitment and selection process, including managing the application database, overseeing applicant outreach, drafting collateral, reviewing applications, and interviewing applicants
  • Coordinate in-person events (e.g. retreats, networking events, panels), including operations and logistics, vendor management, attendee communications, etc.
  • Develop and facilitate virtual workshops to foster community building, leadership development, and exchanges on topics related to US health, social justice, management, and professional development
  • Contribute to the development of team budgets. Manage reimbursements and vendor agreements, invoices and payments, and other administrative duties.
  • Develop and streamline tools to support program management, i.e. email templates, tracking documents, etc., and support the tracking and reporting of program metrics
  • Provide other support for the Community Impact Team and US Fellowship Team, as relevant and necessary to meet organizational goals.


Community Engagement
  • Community Engagement
  • Build relationships with fellows and alumni through regular check-ins and coaching calls
  • Support the Digital Engagement lead in the development and management of GHC Connect, our internal communication and engagement platform, including content generation, community management, metrics tracking, and user engagement strategy
  • Develop and lead efforts to showcase US community member achievements work both internally and externally and connect US community members with relevant opportunities (conferences, speaking engagements, grants, etc.) and other networks
  • Support US alumni chapters by reviewing annual plans and programming ideas, sharing tools/resources, coaching them through project completion, and coordinating chapter expansion
  • Impact & Communications
  • Support the Impact and Learning team to implement a robust monitoring and evaluation framework. Review feedback to identify opportunities for new programs and partnerships
  • Support the Communications Team by highlighting and collating stories about the impact of our fellows and alumni
  • Draft lessons learned for communications efforts and external engagement on US community activities, leadership and professional development
  • Draft email and newsletter communication, sharing resources and updates for fellows and alumni
  •  


Who You Are
  • An enthusiastic advocate for Global Health Corps’ mission and values. You are inspired to grow a successful program that is building a movement for global health equity. You thrive on a close-knit team that values shared integrity, inclusive collaboration, sustainable resilience, and continuous learning. An understanding and/or lived experience with health equity challenges in the US is a plus. Experience with fellowship/leadership development programs is a plus. 
  • An energetic and adaptable program and systems implementer. You bring at least 3 years of work experience in nonprofit program coordination or transferable roles, with exposure to program operations, systems-building, and group facilitation. You bring excitement for building something new and “figuring it out” along the way. You are a problem solver by nature and agility to move between attention to tedious details and addressing big-picture outcomes.
  • A thoughtful relationship builder who develops rapport easily and fosters long-term connections. You have a warm, energetic, and authentic personality that translates to building lasting relationships with a range of personalities. You are a natural networker with the ability to deepen existing relationships and develop new ones. Experience in volunteer management or people network development is a plus.
  • Tech-savvy and well-organized. You have experience managing work and priorities across multiple projects. You take pride in your work product and operate with high attention to detail. Experience in Google Suite, Zoom, Dropbox, Asana, Submittable, Hivebrite, Sage, Zoho, or other relational databases is a plus. 
  • An action-oriented, resourceful, and collaborative team member. You possess a “get it done” attitude, with the ability to stay focused and nimble in a dynamic environment. You work effectively across teams, time zones, and with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.  


$60,000 - $67,000 a year

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND BENEFITS 

This position may work from anywhere in the East Coast of the U.S. Occasional domestic travel is required, specifically for fellow and alumni retreats and events—approximately 3-4x/year with overnight stays required.
